The Club was presented with the “Large Club Honorable Mention for the 2016-2017 Inter-Club Points Competition.”  When a Club Palo Alto’s size visits another Kiwanis Club, they receive points in a Cal-Nev-Ha District of Kiwanis International contest designed to encourage clubs visiting and supporting each other’s meetings and events.  At the Mid-Year North Conference of the District last Saturday, February 10, 2018, the Club received the award and this year’s Inter-Club Chair, Brian Dahlquist received the Award on behalf of the Club.  Club President Ann Eddington presented the patch representing the Award to last year’s Club President, Karen Pauls...

Palo Alto Club Receives Recognition from International Foundation

The Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto has achieved Blue-level Today Club status for the 2016–17 Kiwanis year. That means your club’s unrestricted gifts and the unrestricted gifts from your club members to the Kiwanis Children’s Fund reached a per-member giving average of US$10.

The Palo Alto Players, a Corporate Member of our Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto designated our Charitable Foundation as a recipient of their “Players Give Back Program.”  The Players Gives Back program  is a way to raise awareness and financial support for both Palo Alto Players and nonprofits in our community. For each production, they partner with one local nonprofit and they collect donations at the theatre during the run of the production through an audience ask at the end of every performance.  Players then donates 50% of the proceeds raised during the run of the production to the nonprofit partner.  They usually raise...

Club starts “Kiwanis Smarts” Tutoring Project in Tapulao, Orani, Bataan, the Philippines.

On a recent trip to the Philippines, one of our club members, Lamberto “Bert” Torres, found out that students were being promoted to the next grade even when they had not mastered the basic material necessary to continue learning and that In fact, there were third graders who could not read.  That provided impetus for starting a tutoring program and Bert then talked with parents of the affected students to get their buy-in.  The Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto has now funded a pilot tutoring program in the school.  The new tutoring project program will identify the school...

The Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto at its Luncheon February 16, 2017, honored two of its members.  In photo, Don Peterson was presented with a “Legion of Honor” Certificate and Pin for having been in our Kiwanis Club for over 50 years by Club President, Karen Pauls.  Also, John King, was presented with a “Legion of Honor” Certificate and pin for having been a Kiwanian for over 30 years!

The Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto was well represented at the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of Kiwanis International Mid-Year Conference North February 4, 2017, at the San Ramon Marriott in San Ramon, California. A total of 8 members attended and saw the Club receive the a First Place Inter-club Award for Mileage in the large Club category. Club enjoys Theater Party

Last night (January 27, 2017) the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto went to the theater!  The Club had a social event at the Palo Alto Players excellent production of “A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Uncraine. The production, Book and Lyrics by Dick Vosburgh and Music by Frank Lazarus was at the Lucie Stern Theater in Palo Alto.  The Palo Alto Players is a Corporate Member of the Club and the Club wanted to show support of their new member, so a theater Party at their production was a natural solution.  32 Members and guests attended the performance and were thoroughly entertained to a 30’s themed musical and play in two acts.  The first...
