Membership Options
All members pay monthly dues. Dues go to Kiwanis International, the California-Nevada-Hawaii District, Division 34, and
our local Club. In addition, new members pay a one-time initiation fee, which may be paid quarterly over a one-year
period, to help defray the cost of inducting the new member into the Club.
A member of the Club may be either an Individual or a Corporation. Corporations designate a contact person as their
representative to the Club. The Corporation may change their representative at any time by written notice to the Club
Secretary.
The types of membership in the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto are:
A. Full / Active Member
Full / Active members are expected to attend luncheon meetings and participate in approved Club events which
total at least thirty-six (36) luncheons and/or events per year. Full / Active members are billed monthly for meals in
addition to monthly dues.
B. Senior Member
Senior members are members who have at least ten (10) years of service with Kiwanis and have requested
Senior status. Members holding Senior status are expected to participate in at least six (6) luncheon meetings or
approved Club events per year. In addition to monthly dues, Senior members are billed for one lunch per month.
Additional lunches attended during the month are billed at the going rate.
C. Service Member
Service membership is intended for those individuals who are unable to meet all of the requirements of Full /
Active membership yet are able to participate in the Club’s service projects. Service members are expected to
participate in Club events totaling at least four hours per month or twelve (12) hours per quarter. Attending a
luncheon meeting, board meeting or interclub counts as one hour each toward the twelve hour per quarter
minimum commitment. In addition to monthly dues, Service members are billed for one lunch per month.
Additional lunches attended during the month are billed at the going rate. Service members may apply for Full /
Active membership at any time.
D. Satellite Member
Satellite members are active members of the Club’s Satellite Committee. In order to be an active member of the
Satellite Committee, Satellite members are expected to: (i) attend each month a meeting of the Satellite
Committee, one Club luncheon, or any board or committee meeting of the Club, Division, District or Kiwanis
International; (ii) participate in two service or fundraising events per calendar quarter; and (iii) attend one social
event per calendar quarter. Lunches attended during the month are billed at the going rate. Participating in
service projects and staying actively involved in the Club are essential for the success of the Satellite Committee.
E. Non-Resident Member
Non-Resident members are members who work and reside outside San Mateo and Santa Clara counties but still
want to remain a member of the Club, and have requested Non-Resident member status. Non-Resident
membership is determined by the Membership Committee on a case-by-case basis.
